HOW DOES LIPOCRYO WORK?
LipoCryo is a cryolipolysis (also sometimes called lipocryolysis) device. Cryolipolysis is based on the principal that fat cells are more easily damaged by freezing than skin and other cells. The perfect solution to lose volume
LipoCryo is the perfect procedure to reduce volume in the abdomen or to lose fat in localized areas.
The elimination process of exposed adipocytes to LIPOCRYO action is produced following next steps:
- Crystallization process
- Apoptosis process
- Progressive cell dissolution with gradual lipids release
We will need from 1 to 3 sessions, depending on the adipose tissue thickness and the desired reduction, and the preferably waiting time between 2 sessions will be about 45 days. According to the treating area extension, more than a single application could be necessary. Each application will last between 30 and 45 minutes. The procedure is not painful for patients; they will notice a slight tension close to the treated area due to the vacuum effect, and an intense cold local feeling, mainly at the beginning of the procedure. Usually after the session appears redness and numbness in the treated area that can last a couple of hours. And exceptionally, a slight hematoma that will resorb within a few days.
MAIN AREAS OF APPLICATION
LIPOCRYO is particularly indicated for local adiposities: the ideal candidate is not the obese patient with generalized adiposity, but the one who wants to reduce local fat concentrated for instance in the abdomen, flanks, lower back, arms and buttocks. Depending on the initial adipose tissue thickness, the average loss will be between 3 and 15 mm; in terms of loss percentage of adipose tissue, the equivalence is around 25%. We will have to wait at least 6 weeks to appreciate the average results.
Lipocryolysis is a new technology that results in localized fat reduction within a selective and noninvasive procedure.
A specific transducer is positioned on the selected area in order to combinate vacuum action to capture the fat tissue and selective cooling technology to freeze it.
The fat cells (adipocytes) in the subcutaneous tissue (under dermis) are mostly saturated fatty acids rich cells, and as a consequence, especially sensitive to cold exposure ; on the other hand, the contiguous elements such as blood vessels, peripheral nerves, melanocytes, fibrocytes, or poor fatty cells are much less sensitive to cool exposure.
This characteristic definitely leads to adipocytes elimination without damaging the surrounding tissues.
The elimination process of exposed adipocytes to LipoCryo action is as follows :
Directly by cristalization, followed by apoptosis and progressive cell dissolution with gradual lipids release during the next 2 to 6 weeks following the session.
Indirectly as a consequence of the sympathetic nervous system stimulation that will induce lipolysis.
Depending on the adipose tissue thickness and the wished reduction, the patient will have 1 to 3 sessions. Preferably waiting time between 2 sessions will be aprox. 45 days.
Depending on the initial adipose tissue thickness, the average loss will be from 3 to 15 mm ; in terms of loss percentage of adipose tissue, the equivalence is 25% to 45%. Aprox. 40% of the result will be visible at 15 days, but 6 weeks is the minimum to appreciate the global improvement.
Only at that time, can the patient and his doctor decide whether there is a need for an additional session or not.
Depending on the size of the treated area, it can be necessary more than a single application to cover the whole area. For instance we will need 2 applications for abdominal area, 1 for each “love handle”, and 2 for lower back . Each applicaton will last from 40-30 min- depending on the adipose tissue thickness.
Therefore, depending on the size of the treating area and the adipose tissue thickness, the time session can last from 20 to 180 min.
LipoCryo is specially indicated for SPOT reduction : the ideal candidate is not the obese patient with general adiposity, but the one who wants to reduce local fat concentrated for instance on abdomen, flanks, lower back, arms…it is not for weight loss.
The procedure is not painful for the patient at all ; he will feel a slight tension close to the treated area due to the vacuum effect, and an intense cold local feeling, mainly at the beginning of the procedure.
After the session :
Usually : Redness and numbness on the treated zone that can last a couple of hours .
Very rare : slight bruising that will resorb within a few days. The patient can resume normal activity without specific discomfort immediately after the session.
No Trauma or cutting like surgery and No damage to surrounding tissues as with laser lipolysis.
The adipocytes that will be eliminated by the LipoCryo procedure will gradually release their lipids first, before being definitively absorbed by the natural body metabolism.
